Throughout your course with AllActive you will receive ongoing support from our Tutors. We have a designated Student Mentor who will be introduced to you when you start your learning. Please just let us know if you need any additional support or have any questions about our training provision, we’re all here to help.


Dave Lee

Director

Dave Lee

For over 30 years Dave has had an active interest in all aspects of sports coaching and personal training. Dave began working with special populations early in his career through his involvement with GP Referral schemes in London. He has also continually studied, be it for professional, vocational or academic qualifications. Dave holds a BSc in Psychology from Goldsmiths, a PGCE from Greenwich University, an MSc in Sports Coaching from Brunel University, an MA (Ed) from the Open University, to name just a few.

In 2000, Dave started lecturing in sports and fitness for various FE colleges and Universities from entry level vocational qualifications to degree programmes. Whilst teaching in central London, he worked extensively with disabled groups delivering sessions in exercise and physical activity.

Dave co-founded AMAC which continues to develop professional fitness qualifications. As well as his role as Education and Training Director at Amac, Dave has worked in numerous capacities with leading awarding bodies. As an external verifier and moderator he was responsible for ensuring centres’ assessment and internal verification met the National Standards. He was also commissioned by one awarding body to produce tutor packs for their qualifications.

Recently, Dave joined Open University’s production team to write material for a module on their sports and fitness degree, focusing on special populations such as those with cardio-pulmonary diseases. He also reviewed course material on older adults, diabetes, and anatomy and physiology.

Dave continues to develop courses for AMAC’s AllActive range ensuring that they meet the high standards set by sector skills councils and awarding bodies. He is involved with every aspect of course provision from implementing, monitoring and reviewing strategy to producing learning resources and internal quality assurance. He is currently researching vocational pedagogy and metacognition as part of a Doctorate. He is a fellow of the Society for Education and Training and a member of the Institute for Health Promotion and Education.


Andrea Olver

Andrea Oliver

Andrea Olver has worked for Amac since July 2008 as NVQ Assessor, Programme Manager and more recently as their Operations Manager. Prior to that, Andrea worked as a Physiotherapy Technician in a Hospital and has also run her own Fitness and Sports Massage business, running after school activity sessions for primary school children and also volunteered at a local football club providing injury rehabilitation advice. Most of Andrea’s time is taken up managing a busy office but she still maintains a passionate and enthusiastic attitude towards health and fitness, continually updating her knowledge in this area and is currently practicing towards her black belt in Kickboxing.


Gill Walshe

Gill Walshe

Gill Walshe has been leading exercise classes for older adults since 1999. She has worked for many community based and government funded schemes including Age Concern’s Exercise for Active Older Adults programme. As well as chair-based exercise for the frailer older adult Gill teaches seated tai chi and qigong exercise. She is constantly building her portfolio of qualifications including complementary awareness programmes in topics such as dementia and deafness. Gill continues to run her community classes on a self-employed basis but has also been a Tutor with Amac since 2009. She has run many in-house Chair-based Exercise Instructor courses for organisations across the UK and been heavily involved in the development of AllActive learning resources.


Trevor Clarke

Trevor Clarke

Trevor knows that a career in the fitness industry can start anywhere. He’s previously sold tickets for the London Underground, worked in security roles, competed as a bodybuilder, coached boxing and fought at professional level before becoming a personal trainer and then a Tutor with Amac.


Sarah Bolitho

Specialist Advisor / Quality Assurance

Sarah Bolitho

Sarah Bolitho has had a long career in the fitness industry starting as a fitness coach over 25 years ago. She has since been a Course Director for a national fitness training provider and holds an MSc Postgraduate Diploma in Exercise and Health Behaviour. Sarah continues to develop resources and training programmes for specialist fitness instructors alongside writing books for the fitness industry. She regularly trains medical professionals, midwives and fitness instructors. Sarah is committed to promoting health and wellbeing in everyone and her specialisms include exercise referral, mental health, obesity, ante post natal, older adults and activity, disability fitness and activity and behaviour change. She has developed and delivered training and cascade training for peer-led activity for older adults (LIFT programme) for Welsh Assembly Government/Age Concern Cymru.’


James McKeown

James McKeown

James has a wealth of experience working in gyms and knows what it takes to be a successful personal trainer. He believes in the importance of understanding physical fitness in the context of general wellbeing and is not a fan of anything ‘faddy’.


Francesa Gamgee

Francesa Gamgee

Francesca has been heavily involved with coaching youth football and netball for local community teams. She has experience instructing child related fitness in local primary schools for Shepway School Sports Partnership. Francesca has worked in the fitness industry on the gym floor and delivering group exercise classes. At Amac, she enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for exercise and personal growth.

Lara has worked in the sports and fitness industry for over 18 years now. She is an experienced teacher and assessor within fitness industry education and training delivered a range of courses including Exercise to Music and Gym Instructing. Lara has the ability to engage with students to inspire and motivate them to perform to their best potential. She is innovative, passionate and dedicated to a fitness lifestyle.


Bob Hope

Bob Hope

Bob has nearly 25 years’ experience teaching and lecturing with the health and fitness industry and further and higher education facilities delivering health and fitness subjects and sports related subjects. He co-written two AC Black publications ‘Advanced Circuit Training’ and ‘The Complete Guide to Circuit Training’.


Lucy Wilby

Lucy Wilby

Lucy can barely remember a time when she didn’t work in the fitness industry and has seen many students overcome personal barriers and become inspirational fitness instructors. She never underestimates the importance of a smile or keeping your equipment clean.


Charlotte Heywood

Charlotte Heywood

Charlie has worked within the Active Leisure industry for nearly 15 years working in a range of roles including Fitness Manager, Freelance Instructor, Personal Trainer, Tutor, Assessor, Education Manager, Internal Verifier and most recently External Verifier for the largest Awarding Organisation. Charlie has a wealth of experience in quality assurance across a range of qualifications and likes nothing more than supporting staff and learners towards achievement in the industry.
