Our Story
With 20 years experience training professional exercise instructors, AMAC remain one of the UK’s most reputable fitness education experts. AMAC have helped thousands of students achieve industry recognised fitness qualifications. Graduates have gone on to gain employment in a whole range of settings including gyms, outdoor bootcamps and studios. However, Amac have become increasingly aware over the years that many people encounter barriers in accessing these typical fitness environments. Too often it was people whose health and wellbeing would greatly benefit from exercise.
‘Directors have an ambitious vision for creating excellence in the training they offer and the learners they teach.’
Ofsted Inspection Report, February 2019
‘An extremely positive and productive Quality Assurance Review that highlighted many of the exceptional procedures in place that align with CIMSPA standards. AMAC should be considered the gold standard in terms of what they deliver.’
CIMSPA Quality Assurance Report, November 2023
AMAC decided that they needed to take action, so in 2007 launched a fitness instructing qualification to train non-fitness professionals in leading group exercises specifically designer for frailer, older adults. This Chair-based Exercise (CBE) Instructor qualification enabled anyone wanting to lead seated exercises to instruct their own group classes. This CBE course proved particularly popular with the health and care sector who already worked with older adults and were looking for ways to improve their quality of life. AMAC developed their CBE course over the years and introduced a new e-learning option in 2011 alongside face-to-face corporate training. Clients have included housing associations, care homes, charities, leisure operators and the NHS.
In 2015 AMAC launched AllActive to bring a whole new range of fitness instructor training specifically for the health, social care and voluntary sectors.
AllActive has been built on the principle that physical activity should be accessible to anyone, available anywhere and encouraged by everyone.
